The D. of E. Award - Practice and Assessed Expeditions

Professional supervision for individuals or groups who wish to complete their D. of E. Award Practice
and/or a Qualifying Assessed Expedition with us in the Brecon beacons Wild Country Area.

M. W. Guiding Services also provide, on a freelance basis, professional supervision for groups or organisations undertaking an expedition in any of the following ‘Wild Country Areas‘. Brecon Beacons, Mid or North Wales. ==============================================

M. W. Guiding Services is a family run organisation with over 20 years experience of delivering
DofE Training, Practice and Qualifying Expeditions at Silver and Gold levels.

During this time we have had the satisfaction of introducing many hundreds
of young people to the pleasures of discovering the Brecon Beacons National Park.

Specialising in the three individual areas of this beautiful location, we offer candidates
a memorable and challenging experience safely supported by our friendly, professionally qualified staff.

29 June - 3 July, 5 - 9 July, 10 - 14 July, 13 - 17 July, 17 - 21 July,
26 - 30 July, 1 - 5 August, 11 - 15 August, 21-25 August , 22 - 26 August,

Booking Information

About your course
The itineraries and all necessary details are included in our information pack. Either e-mail us with your postal address or telephone for one. Complete the enclosed booking form and return it together with your full payment. You can also book any available course over the telephone with payment by a credit or debit card. This option must be followed up with a booking form which you can also download. Once your remittance and booking form has been received, you will be sent a receipt as confirmation of that booking. Note that all DofE Expeditions need to be approved by your own DofE Operating Authority in order for them to be used as a DofE sectional activity.
 

What’s included on your course
All bunkhouse and campsite fees during the inclusive dates of your Course. Help with your route planning, suggestions for expedition food and arranging an Assessor for all Qualifying Ventures.

What’s not included
Personal and group equipment (a comprehensive kit list is enclosed) and food for Expeditions. Methylated spirit fuel for trangia stoves, batteries for some torches, survival bags and whistles can be purchased at Centre Reception before the start of an Expedition.

Joining instructions
All Course dates are inclusive and commence promptly at 2.00 pm. on the first day. (Preliminary Training courses start at 7.00pm on the first day). If you are travelling by train to Cardiff Central main line station, you then need to transfer to Arriva Trains Wales Services for Merthyr Tydfil. For candidates arriving by car, the Centre (GR 016112, GPS post code CF48 2HS) is situated four kilometres north of Merthyr Tydfil on the A470 heading north towards Brecon. (Note the Centre is not at our Registered Office address). If you are leaving by train on the last day of the Course, transport will take you from the Centre to Merthyr Tydfil Railway Station

Cancellations
Cancellations must be confirmed in writing and all will incur a £50 admin fee. If you cancel within six weeks of the start date of your Course you will be liable for the full payment, therefore we always consider it advisable that you take out personal cancellation insurance.
